The newspaper Ultima Hora celebrates its anniversary since publication of its first issue on 1st May 1893 with numerous activities and events throughout the year.

The newspaper Ultima Hora celebrates its 125th Anniversary over the year. To do so, a packed schedule has been organised with exhibitions, concerts, galas, solidarity sporting events, conferences and projects to stimulate innovative companies.

The most outstanding event will be the Ultima Hora’s great exhibition at Es Baluard Museum, which is due to take place in October and November. The exhibition will take visitors on a journey through 125 years of news, but also through the history of this veteran daily itself: old front covers, printing presses, photographs and meticulous staging will transport visitors to an authentic editorial office.

In June, there will be a conference by the winner of the Nobel Prize for physics 2017, Barry C. Barish, for detecting gravitational waves. In the same month the Connect’Up Days symposium will be held, two days full of conferences, gatherings and activities surrounding the most innovative entrepreneurship. In July, a big summer concert will take place featuring top names from the latest music scene, as well as the now-traditional Concert de la Lluna a las Vinyes, a charity recital at the Macià Batle winery.

The celebrations for this anniversary began on 11th January with the inaugural gala of the Ultima Hora Anniversary, the chosen venue for which was Palma’s Teatre Principal. The event enjoyed the brilliant participation of the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, conducted by Pablo Mielgo.
