Wines of excellent quality have been made in Mallorca for decades, some under the island’s own designations of origin. Macià Batle, in Santa Maria del Camí, is the top-ranking winery here.

There are two designations of origin (DOs) for Mallorcan wines: the DO Pla i Llevant and the DO Binissalem. The former comprises such municipalities as Algaida, Felanitx, Llucmajor and Manacor, with over 400 hectares of vineyards standing almost at sea level. The DO Binissalem identifies a region of five municipalities with a long winemaking tradition, like Binissalem, Sencelles and Santa Maria del Camí.

The Macià Batle winery is located precisely in Santa Maria del Camí. Since its beginnings in 1856, it has striven for excellence with wines made from the grapes of vines bathed in sunlight almost 365 days a year. All its processes are supervised by expert viticulturists and oenologists to produce modern wines with superb body, aroma and taste.

With over 300 prizes and distinctions, this is the most highly recognized winery in Mallorca, holding such awards as the Golden Bacchus for Macià Batle Añada 2011 as the Best Spanish Red Wine of 2011. Looking upon its wines as genuine works of art, they bear labels designed by prestigious artists like Rebecca Horn, Jaume Plensa, Christian Boltanski, Margalida Vinyes, Max, and Miguel Gallardo, among many others.

Every year Macià Batle holds on its estate the Concert of the Moon in the Vineyards, an event with good music, excellent wine and solidarity. In 2019 it will be held on 20 July at 9.00 p.m. with the acclaimed Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands

You can get acquainted with this winery on a tour that ends with a wine tasting and a sampling of local delicacies.

Blanc de Blancs
This is a jewel of the Macià Batle winery, made from the Prensal Blanc, Chardonnay and Muscatel varieties. The grape must is extracted with pneumatic presses, allowing  precise adjustment of pressure. After removing impurities, the fermentation is started with select yeasts at a controlled temperature of not over 17ºC. Of a golden yellow with greenish reflections, it has a clean and shiny appearance. Standing out are its varietal aromas, its notes of white-pulped fruit like apple and peach and of tropical fruit like pineapple, plus citrus notes like grapefruit, together with gentle floral and herbal –fennel– touches. Its mouth is intense, unctuous, savoury, fresh, balanced and persistent.
