Madrid
Descripción Datos de contacto

Caravaggio, Rubens, Van Gogh... these are a few of the famous artists with works on display at Madrid’s Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. The two collections of the great family of collectors –one purchased by Spain from Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza in 1993 and the other belonging to the Baroness, on deposit at the Museum– comprise some one thousand pieces encompassing the history of European painting from the 13th to the 20th centuries. The Museum is housed in the Villahermosa Palace, typical of the elegant 19th-century Madrid palace architecture, which lends an added touch of majesty to the area where it stands. The premises were extended in 2004 with the purchase of two adjacent structures, providing 16 more rooms to present the collection of the Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza and to increase the number and variety of exhibitions held by the institution. The Museum’s new single rate lets you visit the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions with a ticket costing 12€.
